The Art Studio of Deptford

Dear new student,
There is a new and wonderful art class coming to the Art Studio of Deptford starting on September 9, 2025. It is open to watercolor painting, acrylic and oil painting. Students work on projects of their own choosing. It will be held on Tuesdays from 10:00am – 12:00pm. The class is open to beginners as well as advanced painters.
Ann May Kelly holds a MFA from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and a BFA and teaching certificate from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, PA. She was a graphic designer for 7 years and a high school art teacher for 10 years. She now teaches in art centers in Southern New Jersey and specializes in teaching adults. She has been teaching for 40 years.
If you want to take her class come prepared with an image you enjoy from your personal photos or magazine clippings. Bring all your supplies and we will organize them. Below is a suggested supply list.
Watercolor list
100% cotton watercolor block, Jerrysartarama.com sells a rather less expensive one called New York Central 100% cotton watercolor block size 10″ X 14″.
a pan of mixed watercolor paints or tubes – the best are professional grade.
2 containers to hold water
paper towels – VIVA is best
tracing paper and pencil and eraser
short handle watercolor brushes with a size 0 for small details and a 1″ flat wash brush and assorted other ones.
plastic watercolor pallet to mix colors
Acrylic list
canvas or canvas board
Liqutex heavy body paints assorted colors and a large tube of titanium white
2 containers to hold water

long handle acrylis brushes and a size 0 watercolor brush for details
charcoal stick, disposable paper pallet
Fels-Naptha soap

Winsor Newton oil paints a variety of colors, paper towels -Viva is best, oil painting brushes long handle – a variely, a size 0 watercolor brush for details, metal mixing cup to hold Gamsol , Gamsol, disposable paper pallet, surgical gloves, charcoal or pencil, Fels-Naptha soap
