Fall 2022 offerings at the Studio

Children’s Art Class –  ages 7 to 14      Tuesdays  4:00pm – 5:30pm  Starts  9/6 – runs thru June 2023

$15.00 per class,  $20 nonresident, includes all materials. Discounts for multiple days

The main goal would be to introduce the children to various tools and materials. Learning various disciplines in art. Set in a variety of classes. Giving the children room to explore as well as a firm knowledge of tools and materials with a finished project with each discipline.

Drawing- using sketching pencils we will explore the various spectrum of drawing pencils and why and how we use them. We will explore tools and materials used with drawing and sketching; the children will be encouraged to experiment using many techniques.

Charcoal pencil- we will experiment with charcoal drawing and learn about the various tools and techniques. Working in white on black as well as the traditional black on white.  

Colored pencils- we will explore colored pencils learning different brands as well as various properties of pencils.  Learning to create depth and layers with colored pencils.

Fine Lines and markers- doodling creating one line at a time to create illustrations with cross hatching, pointillism and various pen work techniques. Markers and dip pens will be explored along with various papers.

Children’s Craft Classes – Ages 7-14   Thursdays 4:00pm -5:30pm Starts 9/8 thru June 2023

$15.00 per class,  $20 nonresident, includes all materials. Discounts for multiple days

We will explore a multi discipline of crafts. Working in a series of various techniques and disciplines.

Tile art- we will explore Alcohol inks. Create tile jewelry and in the second half of this class we will learn to use this medium on material for a personal touch for our t-shirts, sneakers or bags.

Journals – we will create our own journal from a full sheet of paper 19 x 22.  Creating and surfacing pages with various art materials.  Learn to create fun impactful pages with water-soluble crayons, gesso colored pencils and more. Exploring watercolor and various techniques to create beautiful pages to create whatever our whimsy takes us.

Gelli plate printing– using a mono plate to create fun and creative pages or works of art in acrylics. Learning to create negative and positive shapes to create unique marks on papers in this class we will create an accordion book to share our exploration into the world of printmaking. 

Paper boxes, envelopes and beads– learn to create boxes from scrap paper and create beautiful envelopes for that special gift giving. Painting watercolor flowers and foliage with an oriental brush for a unique paper to create our boxes and envelopes with our creations from the oriental brush and watercolor.

Bookmaking– an introduction in making artists’ books, we will create a tunnel book, pamphlet in this series of classes. Learn all about book making the tools and various techniques to create unique book structures.

Calligraphy for kids we will explore letters in all shapes and sizes to create a beautiful lettering style to use every day or for journaling and letter writing. Various tools will be used from brush lettering to modern pointed pen and ink.

Art Classes for Adults

Monday Morning

Calligraphy 11:30 -1:30

Class is $65.00. Deptford residents, Non-Deptford residents $75.00 plus $10 for supplies

Calligraphy is a nice way to express our thoughts. Learn the history of copperplate along with the copperplate hand a more formal calligraphy style with an oblique pen hold nib and dip ink. We will learn the lowercase and uppercase hand and create a project at the end of the class.  This class is for those who want to learn to letter and create unique holiday cards and gift tags for holiday gift giving.

Monday evenings

Calligraphy 6-8 pm 9/12 thru 10/17

Tuesdays Evenings

Bookmaking 6pm-8pm      9/6 thru 10/11

$120 for 6 Weeks –$150 non-resident, includes some class materials

Bookmaking- create unique book structures for sketching in or for Art Journaling. We will learn an accordion fold book, Saddle stitch book, and a star book for gift giving, In our last 2 classes we will create a fabulous book structure of the Coptic book using a sketch or watercolor paper – bring a pad of your own or use one of mine- to create a beautiful book. Learn parts of a book, create your own covers and beautiful endpapers and colorful stitching to create a one-of-a-kind book.

Color changes our mood and helps us feel better and helps clear our minds.  

Wednesday Morning

Healing Arts10:30 -12:30  Starts   9/7/22Suggested donation-$5.00 per class all supplies included

Healing Arts- While making art is a coping tool, it provides an escape from sometimes harsh reality. It influences our state of mind, gives us joyful emotional stability, and helps us take responsibility for how we feel. Creating art is a type of meditation it allows us to free ourselves from daily worries and tensions and helps us connect to deeper parts of ourselves. It helps us in decision-making and coping with life. Creating art is about reaching a state of consciousness and breaking free from the constant debilitating chatter of the mind. Stop in we will be creating in watercolor, colored pencil, and other mediums. Meet new and old friends. Bring your favorite beverage.

Wednesday Evenings

Healing Arts – 6 to 8 pm  Starts 9/7/22

$15. Per class or $65 per session for Deptford residents or $75 for non-residents

Healing arts for the evening crowd- we will work with several art mediums and create something that we can be proud of and share with others making

Thursdays

Watercolor 11:30 – 1:30 pm

Friday Afternoon

Open Studio   Noon to 2pm  Starts  9/9/22-

Open Studio– come hang out talk about art and bring your own project to work on or try one of mine- it’s just nice to gather and create with other like-minded people.

Friday Evenings
